Police arrest Topeka man after he allegedly broke into local school

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Police in Topeka have arrested a man in connection to a report of a burglary at a local school.

The Topeka Police Department (TPD) was called around 3:30 a.m. on April 10 to Sheldon Headstart at 1155 SW Seabrook Avenue. Police arriving at the scene found a 31-year-old Topeka man who allegedly had stolen property in his possession.

City of Topeka spokeswoman Rosie Nichols says the man was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. His charges include:

  • Burglary; dwelling to commit felony, theft, DV, or sexually motivated crime

  • Theft <$1,500 from building

  • Interference with law enforcement officer; obstruct/resist/oppose felony warrant service or execution

Sheriff’s office employee fired, sentenced for trafficking contraband into Jackson County jail
