Police arrest suspect in 2023 Brookside Street homicide

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man has been arrested as the suspect in a murder that happened in January of 2023, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD said on Jan. 8, 2023, shortly before 4:40 a.m. police were called to an apartment about a shooting in the 300 block of East Brookside Street off of South Nevada Avenue. When officers arrived they found a man, later identified as 31-year-old Darrian Adame, dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

On Jan. 9, 2024, the CSPD Homicide unit was able to gather enough information to request an arrest warrant for 28-year-old Damari Sims-Herrick for First-Degree Murder.

On Thursday, Feb. 1, CSPD officers along with the Lakewood Police Department, arrested Sims-Herrick.
