Police Make Arrest In SoCal Lemonade Stand Heist

A man suspected ofrobbing two girls running a lemonade stand in southern California has been arrested, The Associated Press reported.

On Wednesday, two 13-year-old girls set up a small lemonade stand in Rancho Cucamonga. Their "homemade" and "delicious" drinks were offered to the public for $1 per cup.

Around 3:45 p.m., a man came up to the stand and requested a glass of lemonade but said he didn't have any money.

The girls decided to help and gave him a drink for free.

According to police, the suspect started to walk away, but then came back, pushed over the stand, stole the girls' cash box and fled.

A brother of one of the girls confronted the suspect, KTLA reported, and was able to recover the cash box, but not the money it held.

A few minutes later, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputy Beau Buttersarrested Santini Tate, 18, of Riverside, California, on suspicion of strong-arm robbery. Tate matched the description the police were given of the thief and was positively identified by the victims.

Tate wasallegedly in possession of $30 in cash, authorities said in a news release. Police said hemay be connected with other crimes in the area. Anyone with additional information is asked to call (909) 477-2800.
