Police: Arrest made in deadly drug transaction shooting at east Las Vegas valley apartment complex

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Police arrested a suspect in the deadly shooting at an east valley apartment complex that was connected to a drug transaction.

Jeremiah Smith, 21, is facing felony charges of open murder with the use of a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of robbery with the use of a deadly weapon following the May 14 shooting in a landscaped area inside the Amber Ridge Apartment complex near Nellis Boulevard and Stewart Avenue.

Police: Man killed in east valley during drug transaction

According to Las Vegas Metropolitan police, the victim arranged a meeting with an unknown person, later identified as Smith, and was shot during the marijuana transaction. Smith was taken into custody the following day.

He is currently being held with bail at the Clark County Detention Center. His case is due for a status check on May 21.
