Police arrest 3 teenage boys in series of carjackings, robberies in DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrested a 14-year-old boy and two 13-year-old boys for several robberies and carjackings.

MPD said that one such carjacking happened on Feb. 19 around 4:30 p.m. The victim was sitting in a car in the 3200 block of Buena Vista Terr. SE when two people approached him. Police said that those two stole the victim’s car at gunpoint before a third suspect assaulted him. All three then drove off in his car.

Another carjacking happened on March 2 around 9:40 p.m. in the 5200 block of Just St. NE. MPD said that four people approached the victim and robbed him at gunpoint before driving away in the victim’s car.

MPD said that all three boys — all of whom are from Southeast, D.C. — were arrested for those offenses.

The 14-year-old and one of the 13-year-olds were also arrested for another carjacking and armed robbery.

The carjacking happened on Feb. 21 around 10:40 p.m. in the 3000 block of 30th St. SE. MPD said that the victim was waiting to pick up customers when four people got into her car and assaulted her. She got out of the car, and the suspects drove off in it.

The armed robbery took place on March 2 around 9:05 p.m. MPD said that the victim was walking in the 5100 block of Sheriff Rd. NE when three people assaulted her, stealing her personal items at gunpoint.
