Topeka police appeared to be searching area after crash that killed Alycia A. Noriega, 33

One person suffered fatal injuries early Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in North Topeka, police said.

Alycia A. Noriega, 33, of Topeka, died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, said Rosie Nichols, public safety communications specialist for Topeka's city government.

Officers put up yellow crime scene tape at the crash scene at the intersection of N.W. Tyler and St. John, about two blocks west and three blocks north of the north end of the Topeka Boulevard Bridge over the Kansas River.

A law enforcement helicopter flew overhead as police appeared to be searching the area.

Police were called just before 12:15 p.m. to the scene of the crash, which involved two vehicles, Nichols said.

One person was taken to a Topeka hospital, and subsequently died, she said.

"This crash is currently under investigation and additional details will be released as the investigation allows," Nichols said.
