Police: 1 injured in crash involving school bus in Portage

The Portage Department of Public Safety said it happened around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Milham Avenue and Angling Road.

Investigators said it appears the Portage school bus rear-ended an eastbound vehicle on Milham Avenue that stopped for a traffic light at the intersection. The initial crash caused a second minor crash, according to a Portage Department of Public Safety news release.

The driver of the car hit by the school bus, a 46-year-old Kalamazoo woman, was taken to the hospital with injuries that police said were not considered life-threatening.

The school bus had 15 students onboard at the time of the crash, according to the release.

The crash remains under investigation.
