Polar bear cub born in Finnish park steps out of den for the first time

(Reuters) - Accompanied by his mother, a young polar bear born at Finland's Ranua Wildlife Park late last year ventured outside its den for the first time on Wednesday, tumbling around in the snow. Visitors watched as the cub and its mother Venus slowly explored the outside surroundings. According to the park, "the successful procreation of polar bears kept in captivity is extremely rare". Venus gave birth to two cubs on Nov. 25 last year but one died after 10 days. (Writing By Reuters Television; Editing by Toby Davis)
