Poland provides $9 billion in military aid to Ukraine over two years

Warsaw has provided Ukraine with nearly $9 billion in military aid spread across 44 packages since Russia’s invasion in early 2022, Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita reported on April 25, citing the country’s Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.

“The total value of the Polish government's support, excluding the billions of dollars allocated for refugees, for the first two years of the war is about $9 billion,” said Sikorski.

He added that Warsaw has joined the G7 countries in pledging long-term support for Kyiv. Supporting Ukraine's independence and its aspirations to join the EU remains a priority for the Polish government, according to the minister.

“Ukraine's gradual integration into Euro-Atlantic structures in the broad sense also remains a strategic goal," Sikorski said.

Poland plans to continue to prioritize Ukraine's development in 2024, focusing on education and healthcare , as well as supporting the country's infrastructure modernization.

A recent poll found that 46% of Poles believe that Russia's war against Ukraine could potentially spill over into Poland.

On April 10, another survey by the Polish Statistics Bureau showed that nearly 3 in 4 Poles oppose the participation of Polish or other NATO troops in the war in Ukraine.
