Poland arrests Russian agent planning attempt on Zelenskyy’s life — SBU

A Russian agent accused of plotting an assassination attempt against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was exposed and detained in Poland, according to a statement by Ukraine’s SBU security service on April 18.

The SBU reported that the Polish national allegedly gathered information on the security at Poland’s Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport. His work was intended to assist Russian special services in organizing an assassination attempt on Zelenskyy during his visit to Poland.

The SBU and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine alerted their Polish counterparts to the potential plot against the Ukrainian president and shared key evidence in the case.

The Russian agent was then identified and detained in Poland, SBU added.

On April 18, a Warsaw court arrested the individual. According to the SBU, Poland's Internal Security Agency is currently investigating the matter.
