GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — This week on “To The Point,” a look at what legislators are working on and how the budget may come together in Lansing.

Democratic Rep. Kristian Grant of Grand Rapids is focused on housing.

“This is going to take more than just dollars, right?  This really is a systematic issue and housing doesn’t go up overnight. So, I’ve been working on a package with colleagues in my caucus and across the aisle that will look at the processes that people are taking locally and on the state level to approve housing and to get housing moving,” Grant said.

Republican Luke Meerman, of Coopersville talks about his efforts to improve school safety and his concerns that a package of bills that would do that have been sitting in the legislature so long without action.

“For me it’s been extremely frustrating time to watch all of what’s been going on in the state of Michigan, in Lansing particularly throughout 2023 and to watch these bills sit here and wait,” Meerman said.

What the legislature will be focused on between now and the summer break this week on “To The Point.”
