To The Point: ‘Keep Our Republic’
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — On this “To The Point,” we’ll hear from a Republican and Democrat who have teamed up to “Keep Our Republic.”
That’s the name of a group that former Republican House member Jerry Kooiman and former Democratic House member Brandon Dillon are working with to make sure people have confidence in the form of government and our elections.
“I think it’s educating the public on the electoral process itself. And the clerks, the clerks in our state have done a fantastic job and there are Republican County Clerks and there are Democrat County Clerks and they come together and they’re working together on these issues,” Kooiman said.
Dillon says, “You have to start early. People’s perception of the electoral system either being rigged or not fair didn’t just happen with one event, it happened over a period of time as you suggested and part of that is people have different options for where they get their news.”
Republicans and Democrats team up to “Keep Our Republic” on this “To The Point” episode for the weekend of March 16.
