Slovenia's Tadej Pogacar won the Volta a Catalunya stage race in style by dominating the final stage to Barcelona on Sunday.

UAE Team Emirates rider Pogacar claimed his fourth success from the seven stages in a sprint finish ahead of Frenchmen Dorian Godon of AG2R and Guillaume Martin of Cofidis.

The twice former Tour de France champion topped the overall standings 3 minutes 41 seconds from Soudal-QuickStep rider Mikel Landa of Spain.

The Volta a Catalunya was part of Pogacar's preparations for the Giro d'Italia which he wants to win in May in his debut appearance.

Success also helped his career bid to win all seven week-long stage races. Sunday was the third one, after earlier success at Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico. The others are the Tour de Romandie, Tour de Suisse, Critérium du Dauphiné and Tour of the Basque Country.

In addition he also wants to become only the fourth rider to top the five monument one-day classics, for which he still needs to win Milan-Sanremo and Paris-Roubaix. He has already won the Tour of Flanders, Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Tour of Lombardy.
