A-Plus! Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence Surprise a Class of Film Students in New York City

Who better to learn from than the pros themselves?

Aspiring filmmakers got the surprise of their lives when Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence made an unexpected class visit at the Ghetto Film School in New York City on Tuesday.

Students went to Sony Square to check out a special Passengers exhibit, in which they were able to view actual props used in the film. When the staff asked the students to participate in a “mannequin challenge,” Pratt and Lawrence snuck into the room to surprise the class.

The Passengers costars spent the day answering questions and giving advice to students at the school. And naturally, there were plenty of hugs and cheers to go around.

After the Q&A, Pratt, 37, and Lawrence, 26, posed for photos with the class, even chatting one-on-one with a few lucky students.

The Ghetto Film School is a non-profit founded in 2000 dedicated to educating and inspiring the next generation of storytellers. The school has locations in both South Bronx and Los Angeles.

Needless to say, anyone who skipped class on Tuesday is probably pretty mad at themselves.

The surprise visit comes amid Lawrence and Pratt’s busy press schedule as they promote Passengers.

In the sci-fi film, Pratt and Lawrence play the only two people from a group of interstellar passengers to wake up early. As they come to terms with living the rest of their lives on board the spacecraft, they begin to fall for one another.

Passengers hits theaters Dec. 21.
