Play leaves London theater whose ceiling collapsed

LONDON (AP) — Britain's National Theatre says it is pulling the play "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" from a London venue whose ceiling partially collapsed during a performance last month.

The play will move to a nearby theater in June.

Almost 80 people were injured, seven seriously, when chunks of plaster and wood fell from the ceiling of the century-old Apollo Theatre on Dec. 19. The Apollo has been closed since then. Its owner has not announced when it will reopen.

The National Theatre said Wednesday, under the circumstances, "it no longer works economically" to run "Curious Incident" at the Apollo.

The play will reopen June 24 at the Gielgud Theatre and move to Broadway in October.
