Play of the Day: Sequestration Comes to Late Night

Congress is away from Washington, which gave late-night hosts the opportunity to poke fun at members of the legislative branch. Late Night’s Jimmy Fallon made fun of Congressional beach bodies while The Tonight Show’s Jay Leno noted the possibility of installing video conferencing technology for Congress members.

In the executive branch, President Obama hosted a Passover seder at the White House recently. Late Show’s David Letterman and Conan O’Brien both had words about Obama celebrating the Jewish holiday, following Monday’s Daily Show matzah jokes. ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel touched on Obama’s appointment of Julia Pierson to lead the Secret Service, giving a history lesson of the agency in the process. Letterman listed the new national monuments Obama had designated Tuesday and looked at FAA cuts from the sequester.

Fast forward to 3:35 to see the effects of the sequester at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York.
