How do you play Atomic Golf, the newest entertainment stop on Las Vegas Strip?

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Nestled next to the STRAT Hotel and Casino, across the street from the 50-foot-tall showgirls that welcome locals and visitors to downtown Las Vegas, sits Atomic Golf, the newest entertainment stop on the Strip.

But what exactly is Atomic Golf?

Atomic Golf is a “bigger, better, bolder brand of golf entertainment,” according to the venue’s website. The flagship Las Vegas location offers 103 golf bays, six full-service bars, a tap room, and chef-made food spread across four floors.

CEO Bobak Mostaghasi described it as “entertainment with golf” at the opening ceremony Friday morning.

“The idea was bringing people together to have fun,” Mostaghasi explained to 8newsnow.com. “The world is going more into experiential, so when we were looking at the concept and really vetting it, it was, ‘Can we get people to see it as an entertainment venue and not a golf venue?’ I think that’s what we’ve done.”

Before even entering the Atomic Golf facility, one can tell that a lot of love and thought went into crafting the place “where golf comes alive.” A giant statue of the Atomic Golf logo welcomes you into the building made of pillars that look suspiciously like golf tees.

“This is Atomic Golf!” Senior Vice President Brian Birckbichler exclaimed to cheers outside of the venue Friday morning. “I’ve waited about four years almost to say that.”

Inside, the excitement continues as guests are greeted with four floors full of fun. A mix of country and pop music plays throughout the building, truly bringing in the energy needed for an “entertainment first” atmosphere.

“When you come into the building, you’re going to feel good to be there,” Mostaghasi added.

Immediately to your left is the Astrocade, a sports and entertainment viewing zone with an extra-large screen showing up to eight different programs simultaneously. (You can watch basketball, baseball, and a “Friends” rerun all at once!)

Colorful, space-themed art adorns every wall in sight, building upon a strong theme. Screens that line the wall showcase a variety of moving art to bring life to the space.

Next to the Astrocade lives the Putting District, a “modernized putting game experience.” As Victor Vidal explained to 8 News Now, “It’s mini golf meets video games!”

The clubs at the Putting District and the ceiling above the game have sensors on them to track where the golf ball goes. A screen inside your putting bay will keep track of your score as you play “holographic” mini golf.

Across the four floors of Atomic Golf are over 100 golf bays with a variety of games that are for golfers and non-golfers alike. You do not need to be a good golfer to have a good time, Mostaghasi assured 8 News Now.

Up on the third floor, The Tap Room and Bar offers locally brewed beers from Art District bars and breweries. One floor up, the fourth floor is home to the Cosmic Lounge, which Mostaghasi said has the feeling of a nightclub and offers a tapas menu.

So, what games are offered at Atomic Golf? We asked employee Alex Duffin from creative services, who gave us the run-down:

  • Xeno Breach: A game for those with a long drive! Aliens have breached your ship and now it’s time to fight back. (Secret tip: If you aim for the gas tanks on either side of the aliens, it will explode!)

  • Star Cast: You’ve crashlanded on an alien planet and are trying to survive. You will be looking and aiming for food, water, or a mystery book to help you keep your crew alive.

  • Warp Ships: A game where you and your team play against another group of players, trying to take out the other team’s ships. Perfect if you have a large group or are just competitive!

  • 21: Have you ever wanted to play Blackjack and golf at the same time? Well now you can! Players will try to hit cards in order to total up to 21 points.

  • Bulls-eye: Golfers who are working on their accuracy skills, this game is for you! This game features targets that players will aim for, with the game giving scores based on accuracy.

  • Longest Drive: Do you think you have what it takes to hit your golf ball the farthest in your team? Well, now you can put that to the test. The netted field at Atomic Golf stretches to 216 yards, so there is plenty of ground to cover.

  • Driving Range: Just want to play some golf? This is the one for you!

Each bay has a set of men’s and women’s clubs for guests to choose from.

Before your game begins, an Atomic Golf employee like Jose Martinez will give you a “Bay Tour,” explaining all of the rules of the bay and the games before you start.

Bookings for Atomic Golf bays and group events can be made on the venue’s website. Pricing per hour per bay varies depending on the day and time chosen. According to the website, up to eight people can be booked per bay.

Of course, after your golf games are over, make sure to stop by the gift shop at the front of the building for themed memorabilia.
