Planned Parenthood to close Warminster clinic in June, leaving one center in Bucks County

One of two Planned Parenthood Keystone clinics in Bucks County is shutting down on June 28, the nonprofit announced in a news release earlier this month.

Once the Warminster clinic at 610 Louis Drive closes, the Bensalem location at 2185 Galloway Road will be the lone Planned Parenthood site in Bucks County.

News of the Warminster clinic's closure only referenced "challenging times," but no specifics.

"At Planned Parenthood Keystone, our patients look to us to as a safe space for high-quality, compassionate care, and we have a responsibility to provide that care consistently, even in challenging times,” the release states. “To keep up with the changing health care environment, and to ensure our patients receive the best care they can, we have made the difficult decision to close our Warminster health center."

Abortion access became a state-by-state issue two years ago, after the U.S. Supreme Court issued a 6-3 opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization that overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade case making abortion access a constitutional right.

The New York Times reported earlier this month that approximately 21 states have banned or put strict time limits on abortion access, though abortions are still legal in Pennsylvania up until the 24th week of gestation, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

"As abortion access continues to be threatened across the nation, PPKeystone remains staunchly committed to remaining an access point for abortion care," the news release adds. "Over 70% of our patients choose medication abortion, and patients will continue to access this form of abortion care through our Bensalem health center as well as through telemedicine abortion."
