Report of plane crash in Half Moon Bay unfounded

HALF MOON BAY, Calif. (KRON) — A plane crash was reported to the Coastside Fire Protection District Tuesday afternoon in Half Moon Bay, the agency told KRON4. Crews were dispatched around 1:29 p.m. to the area approximately one mile south of The Ritz-Carlton hotel.

However, later in the afternoon, officials from San Mateo County told KRON4 there was no plane crash.

A citizen saw a plane flying low and raised concern. It turns out there was “no merit to the call,” a county official said.

The incident involved a Cessna aircraft, officials said.

The Coastside Fire Protection District serves Half Moon Bay and the communities of Montara, Moss Beach, Princeton, El Granada and Miramar. The agency’s fire trucks have left the scene of the reported incident.
