Plane crash: 18-year-old pilot killed after running out of fuel in Godley, DPS says
GODLEY, Texas - One person was killed when a small plane crashed in Johnson County Wednesday night.
It happened around 9 p.m. near Highway 4 and FM 2331 in Godley, about 9 miles northwest of the Clebure Airport. That’s about 30 miles southwest of Fort Worth.
At some point, the Godley Fire Department said the plane caught fire. Once it was extinguished, firefighters confirmed one fatality.
The pilot was identified as 18-year-old Jon Monreal from Crowley. There were no passengers in the Cessna.
Texas DPS says a preliminary investigation found that the plane ran out of fuel and crashed.
The FAA and NTSB have taken over the investigation into the crash.
