Pittsburgh teen killed by vehicle in Ross identified

Oct. 16—A teenager was killed Saturday in a Ross Township parking lot.

The Allegheny County medical examiner has identified the victim as Christopher X. Lucas, 15, of Pittsburgh.

The teen was hit by a vehicle at the North Hills Village shopping plaza along McKnight Road late Saturday afternoon, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV.

According to the report, Ross Township police said the teen was standing in the lot when he was hit and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation, according to the station.

Pittsburgh Public School on Sunday released a statement regarding the news of Lucas' death.

"It is with deep sadness we confirm the tragic passing of Pittsburgh Allderdice student Christopher Lucas. On Saturday, the ninth-grader was fatally struck by a vehicle in Ross Township. With his one-of-a-kind personality, Christopher was known as an unconventionally funny young man who loved a good joke.

"He is remembered for his kind heart, strong will to learn and a love for drawing cartoons. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with Christopher's family and friends during this difficult time."

Student- and employee-assistance providers will be on campus Monday at Pittsburgh Allderdice to provide support to anyone in need.

The statement said no further comment will be provided by school or district staff.
