Here’s the deal. Sometimes we want to eat a salad that’s simply full of lettuce and vegetables. Other times we want to eat a salad that’s full of lettuce, vegetables, shredded cheese, croutons, Ranch dressing, more cheese and more croutons.

But we had no idea we wanted to eat a salad that’s full of lettuce, vegetables, cheese and FRENCH FRIES.

That’s right. There’s an actual real life salad that’s topped with our favorite French cuisine — fries.

It’s called the Pittsburgh salad, and it hails from… you guessed it…Pittsburgh. It was brought to our attention by Eater, and we fear we may never be the same.

Here’s what it is: a bowl of lettuce underneath some veggies, grilled chicken (or steak), a sprinkling or two of shredded cheese, with French fries on top.

Here’s what it isn’t:

We left that part blank, because it’s EVERYTHING.

Apparently the best way to eat it is to request the dressing on the side for maximum dipping capabilities. We imagine Ranch would be the best option since you’ll be eating it with both normal salad fixings AND French fries, but you know, you do you.

It can come with all different types of fries (depending on the restaurant) — shoe string fries, waffle fries, curly fries, potato wedges, etc. etc..

According to Eater, you can find the Pittsburgh salad all throughout Pittsburgh and surrounding cities. Word has it you can also find Pittsburgh-style salads in Chicago, Cincinnati and Florida.

But when can it become available everywhere? Why must we suffer without it? If it takes ordering a salad and a side of fries, only to dump the fries on the salad we’ll do it. We have no shame.
