Pitt teammates facing charges after fighting each other, apparently over game of 'Madden'

Two Pitt football players are facing charges after getting into a fight … with each other.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a university police report says freshmen Paris Ford and Tyler Sear were involved in a physical altercation in an on-campus dorm last week. The two were “engaged in fighting behavior” with each other that “created a physically hazardous condition to a degree police response was required.”

According to Ford, it was all over a game of “Madden.”

Officially, per the Post-Gazette, the two are both facing a charge of “disorderly conduct/engaged in fighting” stemming from the Oct. 17 incident. A Pitt spokesman said the incident was “immediately addressed” with “the appropriate disciplinary actions” handled “internally.”

Ford, a defensive back, was the highest-rated player in the Panthers’ 2017 recruiting class, coming in at No. 51 overall in the country, per Rivals.com. Ford has not played this season and reportedly faced eligibility issues before arriving on campus in late August. At this point, eight games into the season, Ford is likely to redshirt.

Sear, a three-star recruit in the 2017 class, has played in five games for the Panthers this season, registering one reception for 10 yards.

Pitt improved to 3-5 with a 24-17 win at Duke on Saturday and hosts Virginia (5-2) on Saturday.
