Pirates C Cervelli hit by pitch, leaves game

Pittsburgh catcher Francisco Cervelli left the Pirates' Tuesday game against the Texas Rangers in the second inning at Arlington, Texas, after getting hit by a pitch in the left wrist.

Rangers starter Adrian Sampson hit Cervelli with a 93 mph pitch. Cervelli showed signs of being in pain. He got medical attention before taking first base but after a couple of minutes took himself out of the game.

He was replaced by pinch runner Elias Diaz, the Pirates' backup catcher.
