New piping plover arrives at Montrose Beach

CHICAGO — The search for a mate is heating up on Montrose Beach as a famous feathered friend continues his search for love.

Birders who have been tracking the comings and goings of rare piping plovers were happy for the return of Imani this season and are hoping he may find a mate.

But instead, they say Imani has warmed up to a new arrival, another male piping plover who they call “Green Dot.”

Executive Director of the Chicago Bird Alliance Matthew Igleski joined WGN News on Tuesday to discuss the new arrival and break down why so many Chicagoans have been focused on the love life and friendships of the piping plovers.
