Pinpoint Weather: Warm pattern, p.m. storms possible

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The warm weather pattern will continue across Southwest and Central Virginia for the next few days. However, a cold front will pass through on Tuesday, bringing showers and thunderstorms to the region.

Tuesday will start dry and mild with morning temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Clouds will gradually increase as a cold front approaches from the west. Highs will be in the 70s and lower 80s. As the cold front moves into the region, scattered showers and isolated storms will pass through during the afternoon and evening. The severe storm risk is low, but storms may be capable of producing downpours.

Wednesday will be mostly dry with more sunshine peeking out. While the chance for rain is low, a few isolated showers and storms are possible as the front lingers nearby. Afternoon temperatures will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s.

High pressure returns to the region on Thursday. Expect warm and mostly sunny conditions with afternoon highs in the summer-like 80s.

On Friday, there is a chance for afternoon rain showers west of the Blue Ridge. Otherwise, the mostly dry weather will continue with afternoon temperatures rising into the warm 80s.

Another storm system will help bring hit-or-miss showers and isolated thunderstorms to Southwest and Central Virginia over the weekend. There is a better chance for rain on Saturday, but some showers will linger into Sunday. Temperatures will be slightly cooler, but closer to average. Expect highs in the 70s each day.
