Pinpoint Weather: Rain continues, winds increase

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – A Wind Advisory is in effect for most of the region through 3 p.m. Tuesday. Wind gusts to 45 mph are possible. A High Wind Warning is in effect for Floyd, Carroll and Grayson Counties where wind gusts to 60 mph are possible at higher elevations.

The wind will increase as an area of low pressure, lifts out of the region and strengthens. As this low lifts out, the rain will move out. Additional rainfall will average half an inch, with some areas getting more and some less.

Temperatures for Tuesday will be closer to average but will feel colder due to the wind.

Temperatures will slowly moderate on Wednesday and Thursday before another cold front enters the region. Showers are possible for some on Thursday as it moves through. Cold air will enter the region on Saturday with another cold front. This one could bring snow to the western mountains. Dry conditions return on Sunday and Monday.
