Pinpoint Weather: Near-record heat for Thursday

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – High pressure will remain in the region on Thursday which will allow sunshine to return.

Temperatures will quickly rise throughout the day with much of the region getting into the 80s during the afternoon. Southside could see its first 90-degree day of the year.

Right now, temperatures are expected to remain just below record levels. Lynchburg and Blacksburg are expected to come within two degrees of previous records.

Temperatures will pull back slightly on Friday as clouds increase. A cold front moves through the region over the weekend with temperatures falling back into the 70s. Temperatures return to the 80s next week.
