Pinpoint Weather: Mild Tuesday, isolated storms possible

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Near-record high temperatures were reported in parts of Southwest and Central Virginia on Monday. Temperatures won’t be as warm for Tuesday with isolated showers and storms possible.

Tuesday will start with morning temperatures in the mild 50s and 60s. Variably cloudy skies will be overhead for much of the day with afternoon highs in the 70s and lower 80s. A few isolated showers and storms are possible along and west of the Blue Ridge during the late afternoon and evening hours. A couple of storms may produce locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

Mostly cloudy skies and warm conditions are slated for Wednesday. Afternoon temperatures will rise into the upper 70s and lower 80s. A few spotty rain showers may pass through, but don’t expect a washout. Not everyone will see rain.

While isolated showers cannot be ruled out on Thursday, more sunshine and breezy winds are expected across Southwest and Central Virginia. It will be slightly warmer with highs in the 70s and 80s.

On Friday, a nearby front will produce some late-day showers and storms. Highs will reach the 70s. This same front will bring a few showers to Southwest and Central Virginia during the weekend. Shower activity does not appear to be widespread. It will be noticeably cooler on Saturday and Sunday. While afternoon highs will be in the 70s on Saturday, temperatures will only warm up into the 60s on Sunday.
