Pinpoint Weather: Cold, wind and snow continue

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings continue for parts of the Highlands and Mountain Empire into the day on Friday.

Additional snow accumulation, on average, of four to seven inches is expected for the Highlands with another one to two possible in the Mountain Empire.

Elsewhere, rain showers will taper off overnight with a few showers possible west of the Blue Ridge Friday afternoon. Central Virginia and Southside should remain dry.

Windy conditions will continue for Friday and into Saturday as well. Wind gusts will be decreased from Thursday levels, but 30 mph gusts are still possible.

As the wind pushes more cold air into the region, temperatures will remain chilly with overnight lows in the 30s and highs in the 40s and 50s.

Temperatures will remain cool for Saturday but start to increase again on Sunday. Rain chances return to the forecast next week.
