Pine Bluff police investigating deadly Thursday shooting

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Police in Pine Bluff say a man found shot in a store parking lot Thursday has now died.

Officials with the Pine Bluff Police Department said officers were called to the area of the 3000 block of South Catalpa Street just before noon.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they said they found a man, identified as 35-year-old Kendrell Laws, lying on the ground of the parking lot with a gunshot wound.

The officers said they called emergency crews, who took Laws to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment. However, medical personnel said Laws died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Detectives were called to the scene and have started their initial homicide investigation. Authorities said they have no information at this time on any possible suspects in the case or details on what may have led to the shooting.
