Pilot captures heartstopping moment when his plane's engine fails mid-air

Of all of the things that could happen in the air, having your plane's engine shut off is the most frightening.

In footage shot last May but surfaced recently, pilot Chad Barber was out practicing stunts when he lost fuel to his engine 2,500 feet above Pompano Beach in Florida. This caused his plane to start falling, all of which was recorded on video.

Barber told WSVN 7 that there was a flop tube inside the fuel tank "that moves freely," and that it didn't pick up fuel in enough time to keep the engine running.

"Survival was the first thing. I focused on surviving ... I did a little quick prayer in the 45 seconds that it had all happened," he told the news outlet.

Fortunately, Barber was able to start up his engine mere moments before the plane reached the ground. Close call.
