Pilot accused of stealing car near Sea-Tac Airport

SEATTLE (AP) — An airline pilot has been arrested in Seattle on accusations that he stole another man's rental car.

King County sheriff's Sgt. Cindi West says the 43-year-old pilot from charter airline Omni Air was arrested Saturday night for investigation of vehicle theft and DUI. She did not release his name.

West says the pilot from Tulsa, Okla., had been scheduled to fly to Tokyo on Sunday morning.

A 66-year-old man told police he got into his rental car at a hotel near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, and a stranger climbed into the back seat. West says after a scuffle and a chase around the car, the stranger managed to drive away in the vehicle.

Police found the pilot and the car in a nearby parking lot.

An email seeking comment was sent to the airline late Monday.
