Piers Morgan Thumps Trump Over Texas School Shooting Tweet: ‘Your Prayers Don’t Seem to Be Stopping Deranged Kids’

Donald Trump was off-mark with his reaction to Friday’s school shooting in Texas, as far as Piers Morgan is concerned.

British media personality and gun-control advocate Morgan tore into Trump Friday morning for his tweet regarding the deadly school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas.

In an acid-toned tweet, Morgan informed Trump that his prayers “don’t seem to be stopping” the rash of school shootings plaguing America.

“School shooting in Texas. Early reports not looking good. God bless all!” Trump tweeted Friday morning.

“Your prayers don’t seem to be stopping deranged kids shooting up your schools, Mr President @realDonaldTrump,” Morgan replied. “How about making it harder for them to get their hands on guns?”

In an earlier tweet, Morgan wrote, “America going straight into ‘thoughts & prayers’ Groundhog Day mode after yet another mass school shooting. There have been 200+ since Sandy Hook & NOTHING has been done to stop them. I don’t know what to say anymore. The USA cares more about gun rights than kids being murdered.”

According to CNN, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Friday that at least eight people have died in the shooting at Santa Fe High School.

A suspect in the shooting, who is thought to be a student, has been arrested, while a second person, also thought to be a suspect, has also been detained, Gonzalez added.

While “The Celebrity Apprentice” alum Morgan has been criticized for appearing to go easy on Trump, Friday was far from the first time that Morgan has lashed out at Trump over the topic of gun violence.

Following February’s school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, Morgan lashed out at Trump for what he perceived to be the president’s inaction.

“Three of the 10 worst mass shootings in American history have happened in your 1st year, Mr President @realDonaldTrump,” Morgan tweeted at the time. “What are you going to do about it?”
