Piers Morgan gets into sexist spat with Tory MP on Question Time
Piers Morgan got caught up in a sexist spat with Tory MP Claire Perry during last night’s Question Time.
This week’s political debate show on BBC One saw the Good Morning Britain presenter square off against a panel that also included Gina Miller.
But it was when he was constantly interrupting Perry, the Minister of of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy, she called him out on his behaviour.
Morgan bellowed: ‘Can you stop interrupting me…’ to which the audience applauded.
‘Piers, I love you dearly but this isn’t Good Morning Britain – sometimes you have to actually listen to women rather than just ogle them.’
The GMB host made a point that she was lightly touching his arm when she was addressing him, feigning that she was ‘man-handling her’ and riled up the audience: ‘Stop man-handling me! Go and man-handle your ministers and get a better deal’, he said.
After Perry’s comments, Morgan was visibly and audibly shocked, and a member of the audience shouted out that the comments were sexist – although it wasn’t clear who they were referring to as both Perry and Morgan both thought they were the one dealing with the sexist behaviour.
‘That was sexist’ said a bashful Morgan, who looked sheepish after the spat.
‘Yes, it was sexist behaviour, I’m afraid’, replied Perry, clearly referring to Morgan’s rude attitude interrupting her and using the term ‘man-handle’, yet he appeared to disagree.
‘Sorry?!’ he said, which was followed by a bemused head shake.
It was an awkward moment for all, as some believed it was Perry being sexist after claiming he ‘ogled’ women guests on GMB, but there were others who thought he was the one being misogynistic.
Twitter, as always, had something to say on the matter.

@piersmorgan was the only one on that panel who wasn’t talking utter nonsense. Apparently sexist for saying the word ‘manhandled’.. simply ridiculous #QuestionTime
