Piers Morgan gets pie in the face over Daniel Craig 'papoosegate' on GMB

Good Morning Britain‘s Piers Morgan was left stunned today (17 October) after comedian Harry Hill threw a pie in his face over ‘papoosegate’.

Hill was appearing on the ITV morning show to explain his new series, which sees the comedian teaching children how to make custard pies.

“It’s a dying art,” he said, before spraying a letter ‘P’ on the pie. “What’s quite nice is to personalise it if you’re going to throw it at anyone in particular.”

Hill then threw the pie straight at Morgan’s face, completely covering him in whipped cream and shouted: “This pie is for all the men who wear papooses!”

Co-host Susanna Reid looked genuinely concerned for Morgan up to a point, even asking him if he was OK. But then he turned and threw his own pie in her face.

Morgan had been criticised earlier in the show by the Good Morning crew for claiming “no woman ever fancies a man again when they wear a papoose”.

Crew members, including Richard Arnold, teased Morgan by wearing their very own papooses. Even actor/presenter Ross Kemp was sporting one during his appearance on the show, and explained why carrying your baby in a sling is actually safer and better for bonding.

This comes after Morgan mocked James Bond actor Daniel Craig on Twitter for wearing one of the baby carriers.

Sharing a picture a picture of Craig carrying his one-month-old daughter Ella, he tweeted: Oh 007.. not you as well?!!! #papoose #emasculatedBond”

Morgan’s ongoing criticism of fathers who wear papooses even drew criticism from Captain America star Chris Evans.

“You really have to be so uncertain of your own masculinity to concern yourself with how another man carries his child. Any man who wastes time quantifying masculinity is terrified on the inside,” tweeted the actor.

Morgan simply replied: “Captain America wouldn’t wear a papoose.”
