Pierpont School of Health Sciences pinning ceremony celebrates Class of 2024

Apr. 27—FAIRMONT — Pierpont Community and Technical College' School of Health Sciences recently recognized its graduating students during a pinning ceremony.

Held April 24, the celebration is the culmination of years of preparation and hard work by students, according to a press release.

The ceremony and pinning represents the transformation that students undergo from academia to their careers as health care professionals. Each pin symbolizes the completion of academic and clinical training and instills pride, responsibility and commitment to their respective professions.

Over 40 students were recognized for their achievements accompanied by an audience of family and friends. Several students were also recognized for their induction into the Phi Tau Alpha Honor Society for Physical Therapist Assistant Students and Lambda Beta, the National Honor Society for the Profession of Respiratory Care.

"There are a few moments more rewarding than witnessing the completion of years of dedication and perseverance from our remarkable students," Dean of Health Sciences Amy Cunningham said. "They have evolved from eager learners into caring professionals prepared to make a meaningful impact on healthcare. It was an immense privilege to preside over the pinning ceremony and bear witness to the years of hard work from our students."

For many students, the ceremony signifies the peak of their academic journey.

"Our students have spent countless hours of study, clinical rotations, and personal sacrifices to reach this moment," Cunningham said. "Faculty have witnessed their growth, triumphs, and resilience and are confident in their ability to represent the highest standards of the health care profession."

Students represented programs in health information technology, health sciences, medical laboratory technology, physical therapist assistant, respiratory care, and veterinary technology, as well as several certificate and advanced skill programs.

"Our community needs each one of you," Pierpont President Milan Hayward said. "Not just the occupation and specialty you represent, but your spirit, your pride, and your care and concern for one another and our community."

Pierpont's Commencement Ceremony is set for Friday, May 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in Clarksburg.
