Piedmont Athens Regional named among top 100 hospitals by Fortune magazine

Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center was placed on the list of 100 Top Hospitals in the country, according to a report released by Fortune magazine.

The listing was created by PINC AI, a technology brand of Premier Inc., a company that provides services for healthcare business in numerous formats from the purchase of supplies to technology and consultant work.

The purpose of the award program “is to inspire hospital and health system leaders to pursue higher performance and deliver added value to patients and communities,” according to a release issued this week by Piedmont.

The release noted that hospitals do not apply to participate in the analysis, nor do they pay for the honor.

The study analyzed numerous hospital in terms of inpatient deaths, patients with complications, healthcare associated infection, average length of stay and inpatient expense at discharge.

Two other hospitals in Georgia also made the list: Doctors Hospital of Augusta and Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin.

The study noted that those hospitals in the top 100 operated efficiently at a lower cost compared to hospitals in their peer group.
