Pickup crashes into Tarentum house, driver suffers minor injuries
Jun. 4—A man was taken to a hospital late Thursday after crashing his truck into a house in Tarentum.
An Allegheny County 911 dispatcher said the wreck occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. in the 300 block of East Eighth Avenue.
Tarentum police at the scene of the crash said a man driving a pickup down Coal Alley, which is steep, didn't stop at a T intersection and slammed into a house on the opposite side of East Eighth.
There was no traffic crossing the intersection at the time and no cars parked on the other side of the street, so the Dodge pickup slammed into the front of the three-story house at 328 East Eighth. The first floor is elevated slightly and there's a small porch. The truck slammed into the porch's lower facade.
Patrolman Jeremy Howell said the driver, who was alone in the truck, suffered minor injuries. No one at the house was reported injured.
The driver was taken from the scene on a stretcher to receive medical treatment; he was talking to the rescue crew. The impact severely damaged the truck and its airbag deployed. The house appeared to have little damage.
The street was reopened shortly after 10 p.m.
Howell said police are investigating the cause.
Tarentum police did not respond to a request for additional information on Friday.
