The normally white tile Shrine houses the Dead Sea Scrolls, some of the world's oldest written material outlining Jewish life at the times of the Romans, and has been bathed in pink light as part of International Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The power of pink: A look back at striking global tributes for Breast Cancer Awareness

October 1, 2013

The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) is a collaboration of national public service organizations, professional medical associations, and government agencies working together to promote breast cancer awareness, share information on the disease, and provide greater access to services.

Since its inception more than 25 years ago, NBCAM has been at the forefront of promoting awareness of breast cancer issues and has evolved along with the national dialogue on breast cancer.  (NBCAM.org)

This mission is not only 'National'. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is recognized all over the world and has been marked by striking tributes in pink. Here's a look back.
