Stabilizer: The Republicans think all regulation is bad. A perfect example is the explosion at the West Fertilizer Plant in West, Texas. After a fertilizer explosion in Galveston killed 581 people in 1947, Federal Regulations were implemented to limit the quantity of fertilizer that can be stored in one pile to the amount that won't injure firemen at the maximum range of a fire hose water stream if it explodes. West Fertilizer had 20,000 times the safe amount of fertilizer in one pile. The explosion killed the entire fire department of the city, half the police, and leveled several hundred homes. Yet, what was the response of Texas? No change whatsoever, hundreds of fertilizer plants have similar sized piles of fertilizer, just waiting to kill people. Republicans are "welfare queens" who want the rest of us to pay for their refusal to take responsibility for their actions.
