Rich: I went to a party at a local park that was sponsored by a group of muslims; they invited a few non-muslims, myself included. The food was on a long buffet table and it was set up for two lines, one on each side of the table. When I walked up to the table there was no line on one side, so I started to load up a plate on that side. I was approached by my friend, a muslim, and he informed me that I couldn't use that side, it was for women. And the women were not allowed to be on the men's side of the table. Not only that, but the seating was also segregated. Men with men, and women with women. Except for the non-muslims, that was the way it was. Women are certainly not treated as equals in modern muslim society.
