In addition to boasting bragging rights to being home to the tallest hotel, tallest building and the largest indoor ski resort, Dubai is about to build the world’s largest shopping mall -- for a second time.
To be developed by Dubai Holding, the Mall of the World will span a mind-boggling 4.46 million square meters (48 million square feet) in total -- 743,224 square meters (8 million square feet) of which will be dedicated to retail space.
In addition to housing the world’s largest indoor theme park under a single dome, the project will feature 100 hotel buildings, temperature-controlled promenade, theaters, a tram, and wellness resort and medical clinic.
When the complex is complete, it will steal the title of world’s largest mall from the current record-holder, Dubai Mall.
Here’s how architects and designers envision the Mall of the World taking shape.
