Photographer Julie Jacobson

Julie Jacobson joined the AP in San Francisco as a staff photographer in 2001 and was based in New York for 8 years before transferring to Las Vegas in 2009. Julie Jacobson earned a degree in journalism from the University of Kansas in 1992 and began her career as a photojournalist at the Kansas City Star shortly after.

She joined the AP in San Francisco as a staff photographer in 2001 and was based in New York for eight years before transferring to Las Vegas in 2010. Jacobson was embedded with the U.S. Marines and the Army in Iraq in 2003 and 2004 and also did two tours with the military in Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010.

A native of Overland Park, Kan., Jacobson has traveled internationally and around the United States covering various premier sporting events such as the Olympics, FIFA World Cups, golf majors, the World Series and the Super Bowl.
