LONDON — What is it with animals running riot in British supermarkets?

First there was that surly cat that took command of a Sainsbury's branch in South London, and then there was that badass squirrel from last week that went after Tesco's supply of discounted red wine.

And now this.

On Thursday, a Tesco store in Cornwall apparently had to be evacuated after a seagull broke in and started causing carnage.

According to this tweet from Heart Cornwall News, it also hit one shopper in the face.

Here's some Snapchat footage from the scene.

When Tesco's social media team waded in, meanwhile, they were met with a fairly blunt response.

"The seagull flew into the shop at about 8:30 p.m., and I was unaware of its presence until it nearly flew into my head," a Tesco staff member told ITV.

She also confirmed that the bird had indeed flown into the face of one unlucky customer.

"As far as I'm aware she was not injured, just a little bit shocked," she said.
