Bob: Why is that there are so many people running around that don't have some kind of photo ID (Legit) to show who they are? If the Federal government makes it mandatory that everyone from birth has to obtain an SSN, then the states should be able to require photo ID's for someone to vote in that state. Normally it is easy to get a state ID, you need to have a certified birth certificate, and SSN card and in some states they accept student IDs. For someone who is 18 to NOT have an ID, something is wrong! Even if on public assistants you have a photo ID. Maybe the state should figure out how someone can obtain a state photo ID. The Federal court got this one wrong! If the state has strict requirement before obtaining an ID, then look at that, not the fact that they require a photo ID. Without proof of residency then anyone including illegals and visitor from other countries could vote. I know that in Japan were my wife is from, they require photo ID in order to vote! Only in America we will let people who cannot prove who they are vote. Without a photo ID how can they tell that they over 18? I live in Hawaii, I am an American, when I got here I had an out of state drivers lic, I needed to change it. They required me to have two forms of photo ID and they would not accept my current driver lic as ID, I had to show them either my Military Retiree ID, Government Civilian Employee ID or passport AND they wanted to see my SSN card of which I have never carried it with me in 45 years. I had to go home gather stuff just to get my drivers lic changed. This is over the top. But I did it. My wife and son had to show the same which makes it hard. This is what is wrong, some places it is very hard to get. For my home state, all I had to show them was my military ID and my old drivers lic and bomb! So they need to figure out how to make it easier to get an ID and then reduce the cost. $55 for just an ID is over the top.
