Lakota: Question: Why does Reuters feel the need to use the term "white Hispanic" when referring to George Zimmerman? Is it because Zimmerman can claim *some* European ancestry? If that's the case, why do media outlets constantly refer to Barack Obama as black? Should he not be considered "white black" since he's half Kenyan, half English? I mean, he DOES claim at least some European ancestry, does he not? If you're going to use the phrase for one person, at least show some damned consistency and use it for others as well. It's readily apparent at this point the media feels obligated to use such phrases as a means to fit individuals into nicely labeled boxes, all for the sole purpose of fanning racial flames.
