Haunting photos of abandoned castles
The lens of French artist Martin Vaissie, 25, is "naturally attracted to decaying places" -- probably not surprising for someone whose work involves, among other things, designing unsettling creatures. Yahoo Homes had briefly stumbled across a photo or two of his on Flickr (where it turns out he has many photos), and then we recently came across his work again on the Curbed real estate blog (which in turn saw it on Flavorwire). Spooky coincidence, right?
OK, maybe not particularly spooky. But we do think these photos of French and Belgian dwellings -- mostly castles, all abandoned -- have a haunting quality that's uniquely appropriate for the season. We've also posted video tours of two of these abandoned castles on our blog, Spaces. | By Jennifer Karmon, Yahoo Homes
