Building of the Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge spans the Golden Gate strait, the mile-wide, three-mile-long channel between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The bridge which connects San Francisco, California to Marin County, California began construction on January 5, 1933 and officially opened on May 28, 1937. It's the 9th longest suspension bridge in the world spanning 4,200 feet. (Goldengatebridge.org)
