Photos of the week: 12/1 - 12/8

The major storyline of the week was the devastating wildfires that ravaged Southern California. The numbers associated with the tragedy are staggering -- more than 8,700 firefighters battled the fast-moving blazes throughout the week, at least 500 structures have been destroyed and the largest fire has charred 132,000 acres in Ventura County. Smoke billowing from the fires could be seen from space with the powerful Santa Ana winds driving the flames.

Other major headlines of the week included President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Sen. Al Franken announcing his resignation amid allegations he inappropriately touched several women and TIME magazine naming 'The Silence Breakers' as their Person of the Year.
